Don’t Dilly Dally Before the Due Date,
Be Productive While You Wait!
The clock is ticking.
It’s time to get kicking!
Your mini-me is in transit, preparing for the last leg of the journey, from womb to world.
But before the teeny tiny house guest arrives, you need to get your A-game on.
And this doesn’t just pertain to your routine and space, but also your mental state of mind.
Greendigo’s 6-step pre delivery regime will help you get organised, whilst also making you feel calm and collected in the process.
Pair your ritual beverage with a baby book
Reading up - or listening - about childbirth can be a very effective way to combat the jitters of the unknown. However, it’s best to let your gynaecologist recommend what content to consume, to make the most of your study time. Flip through a book or put on a podcast when you’re sipping your morning/evening beverage. That way, you have an incentive, along with a pick-me-up.
Tap into your creative side with the nursery set-up
Setting up the nursery could very well be your pregnancy passion project. There are so many design elements to play around with, from colour to texture. Plus, clearing out the room, and cleaning every surface, is a therapeutic process in itself. Coming to the fun part – picking the crib, dresser and rocking glider! This step is crucial in helping you become mentally prepared for what’s to come.
Take a prenatal yoga class
Prenatal yoga can be a wonderful way to prepare for childbirth, as it helps you physically, mentally and emotionally. The results are magical… better sleep, reduced anxiety, higher flexibility and endurance of muscles, decreased back pain, nausea, headaches, and shortness of breath. Bonus - you get to bond with fellow pregnant women.
Curate a wholesome meal plan
Strike a healthy balance between food groups – dairy products, pulses, nuts, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish and liquids. A pro tip is to spread your meals evenly through the day for e.g., pre-breakfast snack, breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, evening snack and dinner. Don’t forget to flag off the diet to your doctor.
Baby proof your home
Child-proofing has been proven to be stress busting, plus it’s a ton of fun. Begin by making a list of all the possible safety hazards in your home. Then, look for products that are easy to use, whilst being effective in protecting your curious and busy tot. Depending on the structure and space, you can install cabinet locks, outlet and door handle covers, foam edge coverings, safety gates, anchors, and more.
Map out the big day
Without this step, you could be a jumble of nerves enroute to the hospital. Truly. Get it out of the way, so that you have everything you need for a quick departure. From packing the hospital bag, to getting the medical documents together, to ensuring the car seat is installed, plan-plan-plan. Greendigo also recommends picking out a first outfit for the little one (visit our website for some inspo).
Don’t let your nerves get the better of you, instead, reorient your energy towards constructive things.
Follow Greendigo’s simple, tried and tested steps to convert anticipation into action.
Good luck!
