Here’s How You Can Care For Your Organic Cotton Baby Clothing

Greendigo takes great pride in its GOTS-certified textile and fabrics.

Did you know, our fabrics are sourced from the farmers of the Chetna Foundation, in Orissa?

Greendigo baby apparel is made from the highest quality organic cotton and dyed with natural, non-toxic dyes.

Pure, unblended, authentic, clean… truly a parent’s dream.

But buying organic cotton clothing for your little one is only just the first step.

You’ve also got to know how to care for these beautiful, baby-friendly garments.

After all, the more you nurture it, the more it will protect and safeguard your baby’s sensitive skin.

To make these items of clothing last longer, you’ll need to follow a few simple rules.

Washing

One of the best ways to ensure your organic cotton baby garment retains its quality is to handwash it. But that’s not always a convenient option. Luckily, Greendigo apparel is 100% machine washable. We’d recommend opting for a low-temperature (max. 30°C) or cold wash, on a gentle cycle. Remember, choose a mild detergent that is perfume-free and dye-free. P.S. do away with fabric softeners!

Drying

Hang your organic cotton apparel on a clothes line in the shade (with a a sunny spot, there is risk of colours fading) and let it dry naturally. Dryers are not the most earth-friendly option, and can also cause shrinkage of clothing. Make sure to gently shake and re-shape the clothes after they’re out of the machine. In case of an emergency, tumble dry the clothes using the air cycle (no heat).

Ironing

A gentle shaking of the garments when they are damp is a great way to naturally straighten them out. You can also lay them out on a clean towel and use your fingers to re-shape. However, if you prefer to use a clothes iron, opt for low to medium heat. Pro tip – Always use a pressing cloth to protect the fabric.

Stain Removal

Attend to those pesky stains by trying out an all-natural solution made out of equal parts vinegar and water. Mix in a little lemon juice for its powerful cleaning properties. It’s important to saturate the area that houses the stain. With gloved fingers or a cloth rag, gently rub the stained area. Rinse and repeat as you deem necessary.

Storing

Use wooden clothes pegs to neatly display the organic cotton apparel. Turn to dividers to organise outfits based on occasion and climate. Opt for organisers and bins to store additional items like spare bibs and booties.

Please read the care labels on your Greendigo garments.

It will outline important washing, drying and storage instructions.

By following these, you can ensure your baby’s organic cotton clothing lasts longer.
